April has been a month of birthdays, Easter and our 6th wedding anniversary, there has been lots of celebrating, lots of making and some floral faffing of the best possible kind too. It’s been a good month.
We have seen our tulips bud and bloom throughout April. I am so pleased we went spent a very cold November afternoon digging the hard soil and planting the bulbs in anticipation of the spring, it was so worth it for the blooms we have had in the garden this month. We have also been so lucky to have a pair of goldfinch visit the garden too, it’s so lovely to watch them, months back I added a Niger seed feeder to our bird table in the hope that we would attract them and sure enough they found their way to us eventually.
As you may already know, I’ve been busy growing a tiny human, seeing my tummy stretch out before me is such a joy and I am so thankful that the anxiety I suffered earlier on in the pregnancy is still at bay allowing me to cherish the moment. Although I cant wait to meet this little one, I am relishing in this very special time as a family of three and dreaming about what lies ahead of us as our family expands. In my quiet moments, I have been knitting a baby bonnet in the softest wool, seeing it take shape is getting me all excited – not long to go now that I have reached the third trimester.
Last week I ordered some natural beeswax and made these, beeswax food wraps in an attempt to reduce our household waste and to live a little more with good intention. They were really simple to make and I am really enjoying using them. (Read the blog post here.)
We have been sleeping under linen sheets from Piglet and boy does it feel like a real treat to sink down into the covers at the end of the day. Piglet offers a range of simple, high quality, stonewashed, french linen which gets softer and softer with wear, it feels really lovely and looks great for an effortless rustic style. I loved how it arrived too, all bundled up with twine and brown paper, which, for me, its the best kind of packaging. Pop over to their Instagram gallery to see their gorgeous images.
And last but not least, the last few days of April have been filled with the best kind of floral faffing thanks to Pod and Pip a gorgeous online florist who I have been lucky enough to collaborate with. A few weeks ago I stumbled across Sarah’s Instagram gallery, full of beautiful floral images and I had to follow along right away. Her business is built on the simple idea of offering a different bunch of seasonal flowers each week, delivered to your door on a Friday – just in time for a little weekend treat. It is no secret that I love to play with blooms and I have a blog post in mind to share some floral inspiration with you soon. But in the meantime I wanted to leave you with this very special offer from Pod & Pip:
